CATHOLIC DAILY DEVOTIONAL 9TH FEBRUARY 2022
TODAY’S TOPIC: SAFETY WITHIN
SCRIPTURE: Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person; but the things that come out from within are what defile. – Mark 7:15
TODAY’S MESSAGE: When we wear our spiritual armor, we are impervious to outside evil. No one and no thing can touch us when we keep the belt of truth fastened, the shield of faith raised, the helmet of salvation strapped on. We are safe, regardless of sneers, snide remarks, persecution, even a martyr’s death.
The evil that threatens us from within is much more dangerous to our souls. It can start out so small—envy of a neighbor’s car, lying about a “minor” financial misdeed, daydreaming about payback against someone who wronged us—that we excuse ourselves. We tell ourselves that our thoughts don’t really hurt anyone. But we are wrong: They defile us and separate us from God. Spiritual armor is just as important in protecting ourselves from those inroads evil tries to make in our hearts and souls. Without it, we are lost.
Lord, help me to keep my eyes, thoughts and actions focused on you.
